Paruppu Podi/Dhal Powder
Paruppu Podi – the name itself makes me feel nostalgic. Paruppu podi/ Pappula podi/ Dhal powder is something I have grown up with. Brings me nostalgic memories of having this daily with idlis and dosas. Mom used to make dosas coated with paruppu podi on the insides along with some spicy onion chutney. That one dosa used to be pure bliss. I can never hate Paruppu podi in my life and I can just survive on only this and some white rice. So much is my love towards this protein rich and versatile Paruppu Podi. When I visited my mom a few days back, she made this for me as she knows how much I love it. My son has also inherited my love for Paruppu Podi and I can never be hesitant to give him this since it is nothing but protein rich dal powder. It can also be used in any curries of your choice apart from being used as an accompaniment for idlis/dosas.
The recipe I am posting here is from my mother and by far, this is the best Paruppu podi I have eaten in my life. This is a very simple recipe that uses just 4 ingredients and can be made very easily. It has all the nutritious benefits of dhal/lentils and hence can be taken without any hesitation. A teaspoon of this paruppu podi mixed with some gingelly oil and some idlis or dosas beside is a guaranteed sign of pure bliss. I guess I really need to make myself a paruppu podi dosa as soon as I finish writing this post. I am drooling, guys!! So, let me finish this one off soon 😉
